“The joy of knowing a foreign language is inexpressible but when it comes to expressing the deepest of emotions one has to go back to one’s my mother tongue.”

The pleasant morning of 26 September at Shalom Presidency School was marked for a very special ‘Hindi’ assembly on the occasion of Hindi Diwas. The event was initiated by highlighting the importance of our mother tongue and why we should be proud of it. Children of grade eight and nine set the atmosphere with their melodious singing. The heart touching song was followed by thought and news. Valuable and ever relevant nuggets of wisdom by Poets like ‘Kabir’ and ‘Rahim’ were presented with their meanings . A short video was played to make the children realize that its high time they should give due importance to learning Hindi. A poem in praise of our mother tongue and finally a few brain teasers were a perfect closure to the programme. The Principal addressed children and took a promise from them to respect and learn Hindi language.
