“Freedom in the mind, Faith in our words, Pride in our souls. Let’s salute the nation on this auspicious day”

Gaiety and patriotic fervor marked the 73rd Independence Day celebrations at Shalom Presidency School on 13 August 2019. The ceremony commenced at 9:30 am in the school’s conference hall with a large crowd of students and staff.

To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, a gamut of cultural activities with ‘Patriotism’ as the essence was aligned for the students. The event began with the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer and the Sanskrit shloka by the immensely talented young Shalomities. This was followed by an efficacious speech by the Head Boy,Mekala Samvith and the Head Girl, Arshveen Kaur Bhasin.

The highlight of the event was the inter-house dance competition ‘Folk flavors of our country.’ The students mesmerized the audience with their beautiful dance performances. Our incredibly talented choir sung patriotic songs, instilling in the Shalomities, the value, and reverence for the gift of freedom. The event culminated with the unfurling of the tricolor and all in unison signing the Shalom Anthem and the National Anthem.

Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace, and unity in diversity. The Independence Day Celebration at our school reflected the spirit of India’s greatness amongst all odds.
